After you add a producer to SureLC, (and his/her business entity if needed) SuranceBay pulls in the producer's or entity's PDB Report from NIPR. The PDB Report includes all state license information as reported to NIPR on the producer or entity by the states.
As part of the service SuranceBay provides our users, we obtain updated license information for all of your producers and business entities included in SureLC. There are different types of updates:
- Instant Update - License Renewals or Non-Resident License Applications submitted through SureLC and approved by the states are immediately updated within SureLC once NIPR is alerted to the approval. (NIPR is usually alerted 3 to 5 business days after license renewal/issue)
- Daily Refresh - NIPR sends push notifications daily for about 80% of producers included in SureLC. These push notifications contain updated license information. (once reported by the state DOI)
- Sunday Morning Refresh - Weekly, on Sunday mornings around 4:00 am eastern time, SuranceBay runs a complete list against NIPR for all agents within SureLC. This Sunday morning refresh is the last line of defense that ensures all producer's license records are up-to-date.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q1. My producer (or entity) has a state license that I see updated on the state's website and I have a copy but SureLC is not updated. I need to request an appointment for this producer in this state but SureLC isn't showing the state as active.
A1. Depending on the state it may take 1-5 business days for NIPR to get updated. It is possible that SureLC isn't 100% updated according to the state and NIPR. While SureLC will get updated, we recommend that you follow the steps to manually upload producer licenses so you can proceed contracting the producer in the desired states.
Q2. Do the updates that SuranceBay receives from NIPR include appointment status updates?
A2. At this time, NIPR doesn't provide appointment status updates without pulling a brand new PDB report. Additionally, only 42 states actually maintain appointment status history. For that reason, SuranceBay continues to work with our Carrier Partners to obtain appointment status on each of your producers directly from them.
Q3. What can I do to assist in getting appointment status directly from the carriers?
A3. While SuranceBay continues to work with carriers, direct contact with the carriers from you insures SuranceBay status accurately. We recommend that you reach out to your carrier partners, and include your SuranceBay's point of contact in the conversation to move this process along.
Q4. One of my producers renewed his resident license and updated his resident address with his state department of insurance. Will SureLC automatically update all this new information once it gets reported to NIPR?
A4. Yes and no. The license renewal information gets updated but the residential address will not. After the producer is registered in SureLC for the first time with your agency, SureLC only updates licensing information not demographic information from that point on. Any changes to a producer's demographics must be made manually in his or her SureLC profile. To change an address on the producers NIPR Tab, click the Edit button next to the address, say Yes to the pop up, make changes as needed, then click Done. To make changes to the producers address on the DBA Tab, click on the address that needs to be changed, say Yes to any pop up, make the desired change, then click OK.
