Firms & Institutions is a separate entry within SureLC that allows you to manage information on Business Entities and Institutions your agency works with. This article describes:
- Adding Business Entities (Firms) and Institutions
- Modifying Information for Business Entities (Firms) and Institutions
- Frequently Asked Questions
There are 3 different ways you can add a new business entity to SureLC:
Within a Producer's Profile WITHOUT Pulling from NIPR:
On a producer's profile inside of SureLC, click DBA then select Business Entity from the options shown.
Next enter the EIN and select Create without NIPR. Note that adding a business entity without pulling from NIPR does not charge your SureLC account the $3 NIPR Recovery Fee and that state license details for the Business Entity are not pulled from NIPR.
Within a Producer's Profile WITH Pulling from NIPR:
Most agencies prefer to pull the Business Entity's PDB Report from NIPR when adding the producer's business entity to SureLC. Pulling information from NIPR, eliminates manual data-entry and SureLC will also automatically pull license details and synchronize the business entity's license details on a weekly basis as provided by NIPR.
Adding an Entity Without Associating the Entity with a Principal
Open SureLC. Click Firms & Institutions, then click Add and follow the steps.
After you click Add the following screen displays.
At times, it may be necessary for you to modify information about a business entity. There are multiple ways to access the business entity's information in SureLC.
Accessing Entity Information - Option 1
Open the Principal's SureLC profile. The Principal is the owner/officer of the business. Click DBA in this producer's profile then, click Edit Business. A separate window appears.
Accessing Entity Information - Option 2
Open SureLC, click Firms & Institutions and search for the entity to change.
Click the respective tabs and modify as needed:
Q1. I'm in a producer's profile and I see the producer's Business Voided Check. However, I'm not able to modify the producer's Business Account Voided Check. How do I do this?
A1. It's best to go directly to the Business Entity's profile to make the change. See the steps above, go to the Entity's EFT Tab and make the necessary adjustments.
