This article explains how producers can use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for their SureLC profile. When MFA is enabled by an agency, their producers must set up a cell phone number to receive a security code via text message whenever logging into their SureLC profile for added security. Read on to learn how to set up MFA and how to update MFA settings in your profile.

1. How New Producers Setup MFA when Registering in SureLC
When an agency has enabled MFA, new producers must provide a cell phone number during registration. For example, here is the login page for the SureLC Demo Agency. New producers must select the REGISTER NEW ACCOUNT button at the bottom of the page to start the registration process.
New Producer Self-Registration Example:
Step 1: Enter the required information (SSN, Last name, and DOB). Once your record is found in the NIPR database, move to step 2.
Step 2: Enter the email address you will use as your SureLC Login ID, then confirm by entering it again.
Step 3: Enter your cell phone number to be used for MFA in both fields. Select SEND CODE to receive a text message with the confirmation code. After entering the correct code into the "Authentication Code" field, select the CREATE ACCOUNT button to complete registration.
Note: The cell phone number entered here will be used for MFA. If this is your first time creating a SureLC profile, this number will also be added to the Cell Phone field in your new profile. However, if you already have a SureLC profile with a different Cell Phone number for another agency, this number will NOT replace that number that is already in your profile. You can update the Cell Phone number used for contracting on the contact info page in your profile.
The cell phone field in your profile is NOT necessarily the same as the cell phone used for MFA - they are managed separately in your profile. Read on to learn how to change the MFA cell phone or change the MFA method used for your account login.
2. What Happens when an Existing Producer Logs In after MFA is Enabled
After an agency enables MFA, existing producers will see an MFA pop-up window the next time they log into their SureLC profile.
Enter and confirm a cell phone number to be used for MFA. Select SEND CODE to receive the authentication code via text message.
Once received, enter the authentication code and select VERIFY. Once verified, you'll be logged into your SureLC profile.
3. How Producers Can Manage MFA Settings in their SureLC Profile
After successfully logging into your SureLC profile, select your initials in the top right to open the options menu. Then select Account & Settings to access the Multi-Factor Authentication settings.
You can do the following from MFA settings:
1. Select the CHANGE button to update the cell phone number used for receiving login codes via text message.
2. Select the START button to register your device using an authenticator app (such as a Microsoft or Google authenticator). Scan the barcode with your authenticator app to get a six-digit code. Once you have the code, select REGISTER DEVICE, and enter the code to complete your device registration.
Once a device is registered, you can use the authenticator app code as an alternative to entering text message codes.
You can also change the default authentication method to "Code Generator Application" to be asked for an authenticator code by default.
When set up this way, open the app to get the code.
Then enter the code into the field to verify. Once verified, you'll be logged into your SureLC profile.
3. Select the SETUP button to choose and answer the security questions. Answering the security questions will make it easier to get back into your profile if you are locked out.
