Why it's Important to Add Firms to your SureLC One Account

  • Firm information is needed when you want to process a contract request for a producer that wants to get their business contracted to do business with the a carrier. The business information will be populated onto the contracting forms as needed and will be pulled from the firm profile when the producer has their DBA setup a business entity.

  • Firm information is also needed when you want to process a contract request for a licence only agent who is soliciting buisness for a business entity. Both the LOA agent and the firm producer need to be registered in SureLC so that the contracting paperwork can be filled out with both the LOA agent's and business entity information where required.

  • Adding firm information to your SureLC account also will save you time when creating your carrier hierarchy & commission schedules. Adding the firm makes the firm available for selection when using the strict checkbox (which when selected will open the full firm & producer list for selection within the hierarchy schedule). If the firm is not added here then the firm information would have to be placed manually into the hierarchy.

How to Add Firms

There are 2 different ways you can add a new business entity to SureLC:

Option 1: From a Producer's Profile DBA Tab (Pulling the Firm Data from NIPR)

Most agencies prefer to pull the Business Entity's PDB Report from NIPR when adding the producer's business entity to SureLC.  Pulling information from NIPR eliminates manual data-entry and SureLC will automatically pull license details and synchronize the business entity's license details on a daily or weekly basis from NIPR. To pull the information from NIPR enter the EIN for the business and then select the  Retrieve from NIPR button.

Please note: If the EIN is found within NIPR's database, the data will be imported automatically and added to the firm profile. However, if the EIN is not recognized by NIPR the firm cannot be added from the DBA tab of the producer profile. Firms can be manually added Instead using the FIrms page.

Option 2: Adding a Business Entity Without Associating the Entity with a Principal

Step 1: Login to SureLC One as an agency admin. Select the Firms page in the navigation menu to the left. The firms page will list ALL of the firms & institutions that have been added to your SureLC account so far.

Step 3: Enter the EIN for the Firm. SureLC will check and see if it can be located wtihin NIPR's database. When the EIN is found you'll see a green confirmation button as shown below. Additinally, when found the firm data will be imported from NIPR and added to the firm profile automatically. Enter the firm's email, phone, and fax and then select Retrieve From NIPR to add the firm to your SureLC account.

If the EIN is not found, data cannot be retrieved from NIPR. To see how to manually add a firm go to step 4.

Step 4: When the EIN is not found a yellow message will be shown indicating that the firm cannot be located in NIPR's database. You'll want to make sure you have the correct EIN and try again or you can  manually add the firm without NIPR. To do this enter the firm name, email, phone, and fax. Once entered, select Create Without NIPR to add the firm.

Please note: When add a firm manually without NIPR the firm information must be manually added to the firm profile. Once added open the firm profile and update the information on the profile, licenses, and EFT page.
